"After each of our mentorship sessions, I felt confident that I could tackle any challenge and/or situation that came my way."

Receiving guidance from someone who has been in your shoes and can provide both practical advice and the clarity to take action can make all the difference. Alexis Hall, Sales Account Manager at Aristocrat Gaming, working with tribes in Oklahoma, found exactly that through the Global Gaming Women mentorship program—a mentor whose background aligned with her own and helped her approach challenging situations with more confidence.

Building Connections in Gaming

Alexis entered the mentorship program with practical goals: expand her network and learn from someone more experienced in gaming. With four years in the industry, she was looking for guidance in navigating tribal gaming relationships in both Class II and Class III spaces.

"I wanted to join the Global Gaming Women mentorship program to expand my network and to learn from someone who is more experienced in the gaming industry," Alexis explains.

Shared Experience, Practical Guidance

What made Alexis's mentorship relationship effective was the similarity between her path and her mentor's background. She was matched with a mentor working at a tribal casino in California whose experiences directly related to Alexis's daily challenges.

"Her background was extremely similar to my own, and she has handled a variety of different situations with customers/vendors in the gaming industry," Alexis reflects. This wasn't just networking—it was finding someone who truly understood the nuances of tribal gaming relationships and the unique challenges that come with them.

Building Confidence in Challenging Situations

The most significant change in Alexis's experience was gaining confidence in difficult situations. Her mentor helped her feel more comfortable taking action when she might have hesitated before.

"She empowered me to take charge in certain situations where I would have been hesitant to do so in the past," Alexis shares. "After each of our mentorship sessions, I felt confident that I could tackle any challenge and/or situation that came my way."

This shift from hesitation to action represents one of mentorship's most valuable outcomes—not just knowledge transfer, but confidence building that enables professionals to step into their full potential.

The Irreplaceable Value of In-Person Connection

While their relationship flourished through regular mentorship sessions, a pivotal moment came when Alexis had the opportunity to meet her mentor face-to-face at IGA 2025 in San Diego.

"It was great having the opportunity to meet in-person and catch up!" she notes. This highlights how in-person interactions, even brief ones, can deepen and solidify relationships that began virtually, creating lasting professional bonds.

A Strategic Sounding Board

What distinguished Alexis's mentor was her ability to serve as both advisor and sounding board, particularly for customer relationship challenges—a critical skill in sales roles within tribal gaming.

"I was able to utilize my mentor as a sounding board for different ideas on how to handle a variety of situations in the workplace (specifically with customers)," Alexis explains. "My mentor was able to provide valuable insights and feedback based on her experience in the tribal gaming space."

Beyond tactical advice, her mentor provided something equally important: validation. "My mentor was also incredibly empowering and ensured that I knew that all of my thoughts/feelings were valid and important."

Shifting Perspectives Through New Lenses

The program didn't just reinforce Alexis's existing belief in mentorship's value—it enhanced her understanding of how mentorship can fundamentally change perspective.

"My mentor empowered me to look at challenges through a different lens, which changed my perspective on a variety of situations," she reflects. This ability to reframe challenges represents a form of professional development that goes beyond skill-building to mindset transformation.

The Digital-First Approach to Networking

Alexis's advice for professional growth leverages digital networking while emphasizing the importance of maintaining an authentic professional presence.

"I would recommend connecting with different women in your industry via LinkedIn," she advises. "Social media is extremely powerful, and getting connected to different industry professionals is easier than it ever has been. With that being said, make sure to always keep your profile up to date!"

Her Call to Action: Join the Community

Alexis's advice for potential mentees is wholehearted: "I would highly recommend joining the Global Gaming Women mentorship program." Her enthusiasm stems from experiencing firsthand how the right mentorship relationship can transform both perspective and performance.

"I am so grateful for the community that Global Gaming Women has provided me with, and I am even more grateful for all of the advice and the genuine connections that I received throughout my participation in the mentorship program," she concludes.

Alexis's story shows that mentorship isn't just about learning new skills—it's about gaining permission to use the skills you already have. When the right mentor helps you see your own capabilities clearly, hesitation transforms into confidence, and every challenge becomes an opportunity to grow.
